NaNoWriMo Week 2-4 Recap: Winning NaNoWriMo

I started writing my NaNoWriMo recap weekly but decided to change things up for this one. I decided to combine the rest of my recap into one post because we are now in December.  And here we go:

Solo Parenting For The Weekend (Week 2)

My husband was out of town for the weekend which meant baby duty fell solely on me. I know I do a lot on a normal day with balancing taking care of S, working part time, trying to keep a house together, and writing but that weekend was rough. Taking care of a toddler all weekend is not for the faint of heart. I still managed to do quite a bit of writing that weekend and I am proud of that. But I was tired and I could have let at least one thing fall by the wayside.

Birthday Time (Week 2 and 3)

The other reason was because it was birthday week in our household! Everyone’s birthday is during the second week of November which made things insane. We were also preparing to host S’s birthday celebration at the end of the week. My attention was split in 50 million directions but I was able to still get some words down on the page.

How Community Helps (Week 2 and 3)

I hit 25,000 words the same week as all of our birthdays! I do not know what I expected when I started this project but to be half way there that week was special to me. Being able to chat with other people and find motivation through words. It was nice to discuss issues we were having with our projects or to just chat about what was going on in our everyday lives.

The Final Lap (Week 4)

I officially won NaNoWriMo on November 24, 2019. To say I was happy would be an understatement. That challenge was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But what a way to close out the end of the decade. My celebration drink was a glass of wine. That felt well earned. I ordered the NaNoWriMo Winner’s shirt and am wearing it as I finish this blog post.

I look forward to sharing more writing adventures in the future.
